While we can’t say it’s ever been easy to find the perfect shade for your wedding lehenga, people with lighter skin tones can sometimes get away with a shade lighter or darker than their own with a slapdash selection process.
For duskier skin tones however, you need to ensure that you’re befitting your wedding lehenga to avoid looking washed off by a lighter colour. It’s often hard to find the perfect shade, but when you do there’s nothing quite as gorgeous!
Whether it’s the shade or the styling you’re confused about, here’s a guide to helping you look your flawless best.
Stylist Speak
We caught hold off stylist Shefali Deora from Mumbai to give you insights on styling and picking the right colour for your wedding lehenga according to your skin tone.
1) When it comes to dusky skin tones, what are the best colour options for bridal wear?
Most brides today like to break rules and go for a colour which remains true to their personalities instead of going for the traditional red and green shades. You can opt for different pastel shades. Peachy pink, yellow shades, tiffany blue and fuchsia pink get a thumbs up for dusky skin tones, too.
2) When it comes to dusky skin tones, what are the best colour options for occasion wear?
For occasion like Mehendi and Haldi they can opt for beautiful prints on prints outfits in bright colours like yellow, orange, pastel blues etc. Brides can even experiment with different silhouette. If you’re looking to experiment with your traditional lehenga choli’s and sarees, we suggest you experiment with blazers with your sarees and lehenga’s for cocktail parties . Try out a dhoti pant with crop top and capes even ruffle sarees and Tulle lehenga are some of my favourite trends for a Spring Summer wedding.
3) What are the styling tips you’d give for dusky skin tones?
First of all, girls with dusky skin tones must practise self-confidence when it comes to carrying off a certain colour or look! Do not adhere to societal norms to fit into beauty standards. Instead, create a beauty standard for yourself! If you are happy from the inside you will automatically look beautiful on your big day!
